Martin Valihora is a Slovak drummer and percussionist. He was born into a musical family – his father Dušan Valihora was a professional bass guitarist and his mother, singer Jana Beláková. First he studied piano and later switched to drums, receiving private lessons from Oldo Petráš. He then studied drums and percussions at the Conservatorium in Bratislava between 1990-1992. He played in numerous Slovak pop, rock or jazz bands such as IMT Smile, Midi, Prúdy, Fermáta, Kvatret Gaba Jonáša, Barflies, Deepnspace, Collegium Musicum and others. He is also well known for his collaboration with Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara. He gives numerous guest performances with various artists in the USA.
